BAND OF THE DAY: STEADY HABITS

Published:

“An uptempo country shuffle, I’d Rather Be Alone is a song for the introverted and the socially-fatigued. The lyrics long for a little piece and quiet against a lively backdrop of players.

I wrote this song as an ode to solitude in a time pre-pandemic when I struggled to find time to re-charge. Although nowadays, I find irony in the large amounts of time I’ve spent on my own over the years, missing my friends, family and my band.

I think we can agree on how common it is to feel overwhelmed by our lives at times. Public figures and artists have opened up about ‘burn-out’ and more public discussions have been made on the social and health benefits of setting aside time for ourselves in order to replenish our energy.

My intention for this song was to provide some re-assurance that the need for alone-time is totally valid. From a personal experience, time to rest and reflect allows me to show up as the best version of mysef. I hope the song motivates other people to create space for themselves too.” -Sean

A flair for alt-country sounds and melodic pop-hooks, Steady Habits is centred around the lyrical narrative of Connecticut-Native, Sean C. Duggan. Cutting his teeth on tours across Europe and the US, Sean was part of the Folk/Americana duo Loud Mountains, a Clubhouse Records favourite.

The band’s early recordings debuted on BBC Introducing and picked up airplay on Baylen Leonard’s The Front Porch & BBC Radio Stations including the Ralph McLean Show on BBC Radio Ulster.

2022 saw the band tour both in the UK and Internationally at high-profile festivals such as Truck Festival, Elderflower Fields & a tour in Mallorca. Off the back of their performance at the AMA Showcase Festival in Hackney in early 2023, Sean and the band have moved from strength to strength, supporting acts such as Native Harrow, Danny George Wilson and their first run of national headline shows, including their upcoming solo tour supporting Austin Lucas.

Their next single, ‘I’d Rather Be Alone’ will be released on 6th April 2023.
