KITCHEN LOVER ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM, SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘BLACK HOLE HEART’
Brighton-based punk risers Kitchen Lover unleash their explosive new single ‘Black Hole Heart‘ (May 30th) and announce the upcoming debut album, The Circus Sideshow Dream.
Emerging from the gritty heart of Brighton’s underground scene, Kitchen Lover return with their most visceral work yet. ‘Black Hole Heart’ marks the beginning of a bold new chapter for the rising punk trio. Produced by Erik Miles (SOFT PLAY, Baby Dave, Kate Nash), the track captures Kitchen Lover’s raw garage-punk intensity while embracing a darker, more theatrical edge.
Delivering the exhilarating energy of the bands live shows whilst displaying a keen ear for well formed songwriting, ‘Black Hole Heart’ brings thick fuzzy riffs, tight drums and grounding bass under the expressive, angsty lead vocals. Comparable to Shame with the blues rock undercurrent of The Black Keys, the track’s spiraling sense of chaos is palpable.
Speaking about the single, the band says:
“The twisted & accurate story of a sickened heart, whose body is occupied by a man so full of fear, delusion and self absorption that he’s completely incapable of receiving or giving love to anyone, even himself. Many speculate the classified information of a malnourished childhood, ill loving parents, cruel siblings. This being something I’m unable to comment on. There is one thing I do know, this man is in a much, much deeper state of pain than the ones he inflicts pain on.”
The release follows a breakout year for Kitchen Lover, who played nearly 50 shows across the UK and landed support slots with Getdown Services and Gen & The Degenerates. This year they’ll be supporting the likes of Frankie and The Witch Fingers, O. and Toya Delazy. Their previous single ‘Birthday Suit’ made waves on Amazing Radio’s A-list and received heavy rotation across Europe and the U.S., cementing their place as one to watch. The upcoming album ‘The Circus Sideshow Dream’ is penciled for September with Erik Miles not only producing the album but also contributing bass, organ, keys, and guitar throughout the record.
Kitchen Lover will celebrate the release with a string of live shows, including appearances at Brighton’s Alt Escape and a headline performance at Rossi Bar on June 3rd for The B-Scene magazine release party.
