BAND OF THE DAY: DEAD EYES

Published:

The story of Dead Eyes, a metalcore outfit from Baltimore is one of adventure and purpose. Lead singer Zach Williams had only met his bandmates once when he packed his entire life into a car and drove 24 hours across the country to join them in 2019. A tight-knit group with deep connections to the scene through bands like I Prevail, they had found their missing piece and groundwork for a new era began. ‘Break In The Current’ is the huge first release from an upcoming record that kicks it off in style.

Dead Eyes are determined to speak loudly on issues close to them from addiction to crohn’s disease and to mobilise their fanbase for good. Break In The Current with its theme of decisive change, technical riffs and video filmed amongst the people of New York – is a statement of intent from a band ready to assert themselves into the bigger picture. Stream ‘Break in The Current’ HERE

“Feet bruised by the miles travelled looking for myself and I need help” Singer Zach Williams explains: “I wrote that when I was 19 and held on to it for almost a decade. This was the last song written for the record but the first in all those years that could be the vehicle for that feeling. At this point we knew the direction we were driving; it was less exploratory and more a display of us taking this cool new vision of the band for a spin. The entire song was written and recorded in 8 hours, this was the moment we knew who we were.

In the short time since that trip, Dead Eyes’ fan community has grown into a subculture. The ‘DeadKru’ have driven this message to over 3 Million streams across all platforms, growing with the band as they progressed from their home studio to share the stage with the likes of August Burns Red, Hands Like Houses and Cane Hill. Ahead of the pandemic plans were in motion to rally the DeadKru to partake in community outreach projects around shows which sadly had to be shelved, but hope to be reignited as the band rolls out.

Over lockdown Zach’s TikTok page absolutely blew up, with his metalcore takes on LilPeep, and Everybody Loves an OutlawCorpse Husband and more having garnering 1.7M+ Views in 2021.
