Shake it, baby
The Backseat Angels make no secret of their influences on this album of summer sounding, New Wave influenced pop songs.
I don’t use the ‘pop song’ label as an insult, these songs are full of commercial hooks and the album will find appreciation with fans of bands like The Undertones and The Only Ones. ‘Saturday Night’ could easily chart, ‘School Bus Driver’ maybe isn’t a PC thought but the song is pure Undertones, ‘Teenage Rock And Roller’ moves towards Ramones territory and ‘Hard To Tame’ sounds like song The Knack should have followed up ‘My Sharona’ with. Bonus track ‘To Be A Better Man’ even adds Graham Parker & The Rumour style horns to the mix.
In all there are 12 songs to enjoy and if you like one then you will like them all. So all we need now is a summer to go with this soundtrack.
