Drew Davies is set to release his brand new single ‘The Bitter End’ via all streaming services on 17th November 2023.
The track has a cinematic soundscape which echoes the likes of 80’s Bowie and the heavier side of Sisters of Mercy.
Drew states:
“If this album’s concept is the life cycle of a relationship then The Bitter End was my way of starting at the end. I was listening to a lot rock and roll when I wrote the song and wanted to combine the fuzzed out drive of bands like QOTSA with the retro futurist vibe of artists like Cobra Man and Big Black Delta; this isn’t a full return to the Headbangers Ball but I wanted to show I’d kept the tux in the closet…”
In this strange, dystopian and technicolored era where experience and authenticity are top dollar, Drew Davies delivers as an original sonic explorer…Having toured the continent of heavy metal and gaining underground notoriety treading the boards at Download and Bloodstock festivals, Drew Davies staunchly claims new territory as he prepares his sophomore solo album in 2023. In a career which has seen his music gain support from Gary Crowley (BBC Radio London), Bruce Dickinson (BBC Radio 6), Jericho Keys (BBC Introducing) and the late Janice Long (BBC Wales) Davies continues to expand his sound. There is a heavy tenderness about his new work, and whilst his rock roots come through with his son-of-a-bitch wild screams and the occasional power chord; the lo-fi beats, dusty funk licks and Roland Juno all join forces to create something as intimate as it is expansive. Occasionally breaking through this grand ensemble is something hopeful and almost tangible – a wholesome sound imbued with the musical traditions and legacy of the steel city where Drew was born.
