Chicago-based dark electronic pop artist Brittany Bindrim has released a new single entitled ‘One Fixed Point’ today. The third to be issued ahead of her forthcoming debut solo album, ‘Velella Velella’ (out 8th March), Bindrim explains that the dreamy and mysterious song is “about finding one’s counterpoint. It aims to capture the pinnacle of intoxicating infatuation and bliss – that ephemeral moment where one becomes entangled in the sublime joy of immersing oneself in another. It explores that delicate balance between losing yourself in the intensity of the shared moment and discovering a heightened sense of completeness.”
As with its predecessors, ‘Obelisk’ and ‘Fever Dreams’, the new single is produced by Matt McJunkins (A Perfect Circle, Poppy, Puscifer) and showcases Bindrim’s infectious songwriting style and uplifting vocals.
Known for her catchy melodies and powerhouse vocal performances in the post-industrial rock band I:Scintilla, Bindrim’s solo career has moved into the electronic realm with the assistance of McJunkins. From moody, ethereal ballads to gritty dance bangers, ‘Velella Velella’ showcases both her versatility and evolution. Channelling transformation, sociopolitical climates and exploring our understanding of the darker side of human nature, her vulnerable and unapologetic lyrics showcase themes of self-discovery, empathy, apathy, disillusionment and growth.
“The songwriting process for every song on the album was a little different, but I didn’t try to force ideas or overthink things,” she states. “Each song developed very naturally and instinctively.”
