EMPYRE TO PERFORM AT INDEPENDENT VENUE WEEK AND PLANET ROCK WINTER’S END

Published:

2023 was a whirlwind year of appearances, interviews, tours, stellar reviews and pub crawls, for the Classic Rock heralded “giant killers” Empyre, who released their album ‘Relentless’ in March on Kscope. This year is shaping up to be even more exciting as Empyre put the finishing touches to a live album to be released later this year and kick off 2024 with their first live performance as part of Independent Venue Week, the UK’s annual 7-day celebration of independent music & arts venues and the people that own, run and work in them.

Empyre will play the The Black Prince, Northampton on Thursday 1st February. Guitarist Did Coles explains the importance of supporting local independent venues.

“We’re thrilled to be part of Independent Venue Week for numerous reasons. Firstly, The Black Prince is an independent venue in our hometown of Northampton. Secondly, on February 1st they host us as a headliner, but we’ve been playing there for years, and for a long time performed to small crowds when we were starting out, both there and at venues like it across the country. It’s great that we can now support them with sell out gigs and bring fans from all over the UK to join us. Some even from abroad. Which is nuts!

Without independent venues like The Black Prince and others like it throughout the UK who are at the heart of the grassroots scene we wouldn’t have had the opportunity to grow our Empyre. They are great venues for live music in all its variety, the beer selection is large and affordable (at the The Black Prince at least), they don’t take a percentage of any band’s merch, plus it’s a great social night as much as a music night. It’s a win-win for all involved.”
