British Country singer-songwriter Anna Howie releases her new single ‘How to stop Crying’ on 29 September 2023 on her own label In House Records, distributed by Absolute Label Services. Previously described by Maverick magazine as “one of the fastest rising stars of the scene”, this Summer Anna was chosen as a ‘Black Deer Festival Emerging Artist 2023’ and given a slot at the Festival. FATEA praised her debut album ‘The Friday Night Club’ as “Beautifully crafted songs performed with feel and verve… completely hooks the listener in”.
Anna herself says of the new song, “One of the most googled things at the moment is ‘How Can I Stop Crying?’ this hit me hard. Here is my take, as much as a reminder to myself as to everyone listening that, going outside and talking to people, friends, and in the case of this song, a stranger at a bus stop, can remind us that other people feel the same, that we are not alone in feeling the weight of the world sometimes, and that it’s good to talk and to share. I wanted the song to be a singalong and have an upbeat vibe”.
‘How To Stop Crying’ was produced by Kris Wilkinson Hughes [My Girl The River] at Saltwell Studios, and features Andy Evans on Guitar, Roger Nunn on drums and percussion, Harry Whitty on bass and keys, Kris Wilkinson Hughes on backing vocals.”
Anna Howie is a veteran live performer and has spent time in Nashville honing her craft. Whilst in Music City she took in a songwriting camp with legendary writer Gretchen Peters and also recorded her EP ‘An Idiot’s Guide to Love’, which was produced by Grammy Award Winning Producer/ Guitarist Bob Britt. Anna then teamed up with producer and multi-instrumentalist Lukas Drinkwater to create ‘The Friday Night Club’.
‘How to stop Crying’ is the latest in a line of releases that continue to show Anna Howie’s technique and ability to speak from – and to – the heart.
