Today, Houndmouth release the video for ‘Las Vegas’, the vibrant closing track off their forthcoming album ‘Good For You’ (out 5th November on Dualtone Records). Invoking the song’s last-ditch escapism and envisioned as a Midwestern response to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, the video for ”Las Vegas’ finds Myers dressed like a bootleg Evel Knievel as he and his bandmates embark on an adventure to the Clarksville, Indiana SportsDrome (tagline: Kentuckiana Auto Racing!).

This past weekend, Houndmouth tapped into their inimitable chemistry — built on a long road that’s taken them from Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo to the late-night stages of Conan and Letterman — for a set of rousing performances for CBS Saturday Morning. Watch them play ‘McKenzie’ here.

Recorded with Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Hiss Golden Messenger) and mixed by Jon Ashley (The War On Drugs, B.J. Barham), ‘Good For You’ finds Houndmouth providing a soundtrack for the ultimate last call: the graduation from youthful degeneracy to more adult concerns. Songs veer from Silver Jews-style vignettes (‘Good For You’) to boozy shout-alongs (‘Make It To Midnight’) to triumphant credits-rolling delusion (‘Las Vegas’) as Matt Myers artfully paints portraits of down-and-out characters and drunken romantics with a magical realist’s touch. In a 4-star review, MOJO calls it “an escapist tonic” that is “highly attuned to nuances of mood and scene-setting”.

Houndmouth will kick off their Autumn tour come mid-November, full dates below.
