TRIVIUM KILL IT

Published:

At the conclusion of their phenomenally successful US headline tour, Florida metal titans TRIVIUM – Matt Heafy [vocals, guitar], Corey Beaulieu [guitar], Paolo Gregoletto [bass], and Alex Bent [drums] – have shared a brand new, official video for their track ‘The Shadow Of The Abattoir’, taken from their latest album In The Court Of The Dragon. Directed by Pavel Trebukhin, watch it here or by clicking below.

Director Pavel Trebukhin comments, “Making a video for a band you grew up listening to is a dream come true. ‘Don’t go searching for the battle, you won’t find any beasts to slay’ – I think this line is what stood out the most to me. I knew I had to somehow visualise this message.

Being a fan of dark science fiction, fantasy, and heavily inspired by the ’80s world of Stranger Things, I came up with this idea of a haunted book that holds a secret nobody should know. But because of our human nature, we never know when to stop, so the book keeps feeding off our curious souls, taking one victim after another.

One of the main challenges we’ve faced was how do we make copyright-free book illustrations? It would cost tons of money and time to draw all of them from scratch, so the technology came to help. All of the illustrations you see in the book were 100% AI generated with the help of Midjourney Bot. Then, the whole book was custom made and was actually finished just one hour before the shoot.

Overall, we had lots of fun making it. Wouldn’t be possible without the amazing team that has worked tirelessly for 3 days shooting it. And pay attention to detail, you might find a couple easter eggs hidden throughout the video :)”

When the tour was announced, TRIVIUM declared, “It is an honour to be touring with Heaven Shall Burn. HSB was one of Trivium’s earliest introductions to Hardcore/Metalcore mixed with Melodic Death and Death Metal; with very important lyrics that dealt with society and the world as a whole. HSB and Trivium started off on the same record label back in the early 2000’s!” HEAVEN SHALL BURN guitarist Mark Weichert added, “There has been a strong and special connection between Trivium and Heaven Shall Burn since the earliest days. When we met Trivium for the first time, they were very young but already highly talented youngsters, today they’re a global power of metal. Over the years Heaven Shall Burn and Trivium destroyed small clubs and demolished big arenas together, we had great times together in both Saalfeld and Sydney. We´re proud and touched, that our common history is now being continued and we finally tour Europe with the guys again.”

Opening the heavy metal festivities are hotly-tipped British beasts MALEVOLENCETRIVIUM frontman Matt Heafy enthuses, Meet Malevolence – a band that will take over the heavy music world. Paolo introduced me to their music, and I have had it on repeat ever since. Malevolence have created a sound completely and uniquely their own; and it’s monumentally fantastic. Mark my words, they’re gonna take the metal, hardcore, metalcore, and punk worlds over by force. We are excited to have them on our tour.”

After the UK dates, the group embark on an extensive headline tour of mainland Europe through February 2023. TRIVIUM head into the 2022 festive season squeezing in a few more shows, with dates lined up in Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, and Brazil. For a full list of performances, please see the band’s official website.
