Belgian rock heavyweights Triggerfinger return with their brand-new single ‘Come Clean’ (January 23rd via Sony Music / Hufter) taken from upcoming album due in mid-late 2026 (album title TBA).
Fronted by Ruben Block (vocals, guitar) and Mario Goossens (drums, vocals), with Geoffrey Burton (Grace Jones, Iggy Pop, Misia) joining on guitar for live shows, the band is back to reclaim the hunger that made them one of Europe’s most explosive live acts.
2025 marked yet another milestone for Antwerp-based Triggerfinger, whose career now spans 25 years. Having already built a huge following across Europe (notably opening for The Rolling Stones & Thin Lizzy), Triggerfinger re-introduced themselves to the international live circuit with a 25-date tour, which proved to be a resounding success, with most shows selling out.
‘Come Clean’ was recorded in the same sessions as ‘Stars’ with long term producer and collaborator with the band Mitchell Froom, a series of sessions that eventually resulted in enough material for a forthcoming album, due for release in mid-late 2026. Where ‘Stars’ clearly connects to the band’s earlier repertoire, ‘Come Clean’ may catch fans off guard with its new sound, signaling a shift in the band’s musical DNA.
Stepping beyond their comfort zone, the duo explore alternative approaches to songwriting, venturing into the unknown without a fixed idea of where the process might lead. In contrast to the expansive soundscapes and overdriven tones of earlier releases, the track introduces a tighter, sharper, and more rhythm-driven feel. Soaring chorus melodies guide the band toward a more accessible, commercial space, doubling down on the infectious, stylistic hooks that define the upcoming album. ‘Come Clean’ balances melody and emotion with the same sense of purpose and momentum that has helped the band build a devoted fanbase across Europe.
Speaking about the single, Vocalist Ruben Block explains, “The matter of confessing one’s feelings might be a weightier enterprise depending on what’s at stake or who we’re confessing to. The song sings about wrestling with the disconnect of a pressing urge to come clean and at the same time the barrier brought by the chance of receiving a negative reply. Especially in a time where a vast amount of people seem to feel no restraint to voice their opinion on everyday life without a single trace of nuance.“
With a career spanning more than two decades, Triggerfinger have opened for The Rolling Stones at British Summer Festival, toured the UK and Ireland with Thin Lizzy in 2012, and achieved enormous success on the continent with their impromptu cover of Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’. After closing out their Colossus album tour in 2019, the band announced a sabbatical following 20 years of relentless touring. That pause stretched longer than expected with the onset of the pandemic and the departure of bassist Monsieur Paul, but the desire to create and perform never waned.
Last autumn, just days after releasing their first new track (Stars) since 2017, tragedy struck with the passing of Paul. Although he had stepped away from the band in 2023 due to medical issues, he remained a close friend and brother to Mario and Ruben, a passing which has in no doubt shaped the drive the duo now feel to continue pushing the project forward.
Triggerfinger are once again driven by what they describe as “the hunger to be on stage, to play music together, to feel those first two chords hit the right notes, and to witness the magic that transforms three individuals into one.”
