‘Toxic Brother’ sees the band bundling their raw live energy into a dynamically dense song, with a number of surprises that can perhaps best be described as ‘Speedstoner’, with a hint of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It’s also the first glimpse into MOTHER’S CAKE‘s new LP, released Autumn 2020 – more details shortly.

‘Toxic Brother’ is a song that deals with one’s own potentially evil side. As per the classic gothic novella, ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’, it hints at the potentially diabolical spirit lurking inside the mind, awaiting realisation via the loosening of the shackles of outward morality, scratching, biting and digging its way out until it finally takes full control of the body.

The career of MOTHER’S CAKE to date has seen them play hundreds of concerts from Manchester to Mumbai to Melbourne, including shows with WolfmotherIggy & The StoogesOmar Rodriguez-LópezAlice In Chains and Limp Bizkit. They have also released three successful studio albums plus a ‘Live at Pompeii’-style live set recorded on the iconic ski jump in Bergisel, Austria in 2018.

Notable prior press support comes from the likes of LouderSound, Rolling Stone, RedBull.com; the band’s previous record No Rhyme No Reason charted internationally, including in the Top 40 Austrian Charts. Beyond that, MOTHER’S CAKE‘s single ‘Black Roses’ spent two weeks on the Spotify UK Top 50 Viral Chart.
