“What happened along the way …….. “
“Well, let me tell ya. Firstly I think we took the devils route to Spain; taking 48 hours of solid driving to reach our first show in Estepona. That van and we we’re by now of an aroma of the sort that I wouldn’t like to describe, so naturally, we took a bath in the North Atlantic sea at 8:30 in the morning; we endured Storm Bernard in Cadiz; got the van stick in the maze of small streets of Seville, partied with football fans; were forgotten by one venue; had a 9am mafia style meeting with another; stayed in a ski lodge akin to The Shining ; a beard bet …… but I digress – your hear for the music right?!?“; Tom chuckles as he recalls the tour.
The debut 2023 Spanish visit entailed a mammoth journey of headline 8 shows in 8 days to an ever enthusiastic crowd at every single venue. The raw power of the trio of Tom Killner (guitars/vocal/harmonica), Richard Hunter (drums) and Callum Houghton (bass) was captured live at Groove in Portugallete
Initially released as a physical copy only, Y lo que pasó en el camino will be released on all streaming platforms on 21st August 2025. It features tracks from his whole back catalogue and includes songs from the then unreleased Borrowed Time. Mixing and production is handled again by Wayne Proctor at House of Tone. “Spain was a great opportunity to play almost the whole of Borrowed Time to a new audience, but we did treat them to some legacy stuff like Get Back Up, Love Comes For You and Working Man, so hopefully a crowd pleaser for fans new and old“
With Tom Killner, it’s a little like sitting at the crossroads of styles – country, blues, soul, rock and a whole dose of Americana are all covered here and this album is again another story of an uplifting and unforgettable journey smitten with the usual toils, tribulations and humour of touring life. Tom explains “unlike a studio album, the live recording was done quickly in one night, capturing 12 songs in total. We didn’t even know it was being recorded so there were no nerves – we just did what we do best – the show’s energy, the audience’s great mood, and the overall good feeling made it worth releasing, we’re pretty pleased with it”
