| Derbyshire Blues-rockers, These Wicked Rivers, release a new single titled ‘Sing Another Song’ from their forthcoming third studio album “Fire and Folklore” set for release October 2nd via Fat Earth Records. These Wicked Rivers, who have just announced live dates supporting The Dead South in Germany and Robert Jon & The Wreck and Reef in the UK ahead of their headline album tour, love being on the road. When they’re not on the road their hometown of Belper, Derbyshire nestled on the edge of the Peak District provides an idyllic creative retreat. Their forthcoming new album “Fire and Folklore” was recorded in the band’s hometown which happens to also be the home of revered and prolific GRAMMY-award-winning producer Andy Sneap (Sabbat, Judas Priest, Saxon, Megadeth). These Wicked Rivers spent a month working with Sneap at his home studio, together with producer Colin Richardson (Slipknot, Massive Wagons, Those Damn Crows) and engineer Pete Newdeck (Steve Grimmett, Tony Martin, Paul Di’Anno) all local to the area. But Andy Sneap isn’t the only Derbyshire talent on the record. Fellow Derby-born artist Kezia Gill – one of the leading voices in UK country music – guests on new single ‘Sing Another Song’, lending her voice to the band’s more Southern/country leanings. Gill’s career stretches back over 15 years, built on a distinctive blend of folk, Irish, country, rock and blues; her 2018 self-titled debut won her Female Vocalist of the Year at the AMA-UK Awards, and she has also been named UK Country Music Artist of the Year, and topped the UK Country Albums Chart. Two of Derbyshire’s biggest musical exports sharing a track is no small statement of local pride for These Wicked Rivers.Kezia Gill states: “I’ve been a fan of These Wicked Rivers for a while and I love that we both come from the same area, so I was honoured to be asked to feature on ‘Sing Another Song’. I love that it’s about cutting out all the stress and drama of the music industry and remembering that at the end of the day it’s all about the music. ” The powerhouse songstress, who released her major label debut album, “All On Red”, in February of this year via Snakefarm / Universal, is no stranger to rock ‘n’ roll, having shared stages with Bruce Springsteen and flown the flag for roots music around the world; she loves the “swagger and style of ’70s rock icons like Robert Plant and Steve Marriott, I grew up on that stuff, Dad listened to Free and ZZ Top as well as Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline, so I felt very comfortable guesting with These Wicked Rivers, especially performing the video in The Octagon, Buxton – what a legendary beautiful spot! These Wicked Rivers frontman John Hartwell states: “It was an absolute pleasure working with Kezia. From the second she started singing in the studio, we all knew this song was going to be something special. I love the simplicity of the video, I think it really highlights how the song stands up on its own as a simply great track. And we love that we got to film it at The Octagon, a local landmark where The Beatles famously played!”

Sing Another Song is “about being a musician on the road and the highs and lows that go with it. It’s about acceptance, connection and passion from an artist to their audience. The song highlights our affinity with music and how it touches us all in powerful and profound ways.” states These Wicked Rivers multi-instrumentalist Rich.
Over the twelve years the band has existed, they have steadily built on the idea of creating a welcoming family of music lovers centering around their live show. “It’s not a These Wicked Rivers show unless we bring along half the contents of our Nans’ living rooms to adorn the stage and make everyone feel at home,” says Hartwell.
Guitarist Arran Day states: “I always feel a lot of magic within our songs particularly during a live show and the connection they have with the audience. I think Sing Another Song embodies all of that. An anthem to celebrate the togetherness that music brings and to sing it loud, sing it proud and for everybody to sing along. It celebrates the fact that the music and how it makes it feels will never be taken away from us.”
The band have gained a reputation for soulful-bordering-on-spiritual live performances and building a devoted following across the UK and Europe affectionately known as the “Rivers Family.” The good vibes are echoed in the friendship between band members themselves plus a desire to build a stage environment that was welcoming to anyone and everyone, whether punk, alternative, young or old, able-bodied or not. Their third studio album, Fire and Folklore, with themes that range from British mythology to love and loss, arrives October 2nd via Fat Earth Records (distributed by Cargo) – the band’s most accomplished record yet, pushing beyond their signature “wizard-blues rock” into new territory, threading in shades of country and Southern spirit while keeping the groove and soul that’s always defined them. Armed with a bigger sound made for bigger stages and a rapidly growing “family” of fans, These Wicked Rivers are poised to reach new heights.
The album consists of ten tracks including the two latest singles Horse to Water and Ain’t No Smoke and the band had a clear vision for the running order – “We decided the tracklist with the vinyl experience in mind. We’re old school, what can I say? We still love the album format. ‘The Healing’ is such a perfect opener” states frontman John Hartwell, “‘Rise’ really kickstarts side two, whilst ‘Sing Another Song’ and ‘Stories’ act as natural bookends.”
