Swedish trio Then Comes Silence have long been held in high regard for a sound that is a modern and unique take on classic goth and post-punk. Their new single, ‘Bye Bye Land’ STREAM | BANDCAMP, is the third to be lifted from a new studio album entitled ‘Requiem Ballroom’ out on 20th November via Metropolis Records.
“In many ways, this song is a slap in the face to one of my dearest friends, who experienced a life-changing trauma and reached a point where he decided he no longer wanted to be here,” explains TCS frontman Alex Svenson. “I’m not going to pretend that I know what was going through his mind or that I fully understand what he was feeling, but I do know how deeply grateful I am that he’s still here. I know I’m not the only one who feels that way. I wanted to remind him of how much he means to all of us, and, more importantly, how much his life means to himself.”
‘Bye Bye Land’ follows the recent ‘Judgement Day’ STREAM | VIDEO and ‘Remaker Redeemer’ STREAM | VIDEO, while ‘Requiem Ballroom’ will be the follow-up to ‘Trickery’, the band’s seventh full-length album released in 2024.
Then Comes Silence will be promoting the album with mainland European tour dates in early January 2027. The group have also just announced a show at The Garage in London in late May. Further info and tickets can be found HERE.
‘Requiem Ballroom’ is presented as a diptych that combines to form the overall work. The first half (Requiem) represents darkness, the second (Ballroom) the light. Produced by Svenson, the album was recorded at two different studios in Stockholm, with the Requiem songs mixed by Tom van Heesch (Rammstein, Backyard Babies, Apocalyptica) and the Ballroom ones by Jon Bordon (Nicole Sabouné, Melody Club, The Exploding Boy). The album was mastered by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers (Rammstein, Amaranthe, Ville Valo, The Rasmus, Apocalyptica).
