The Skies Have It

Experimentalists stream new track

A band unafraid of genre experimentation, SKIES are back with their brand new singleHold On.

Taking elements of synth, rock and pop to deliver a sound that is epic and mesmerising in equal measures, the duo are effortlessly bridging the gap between indie and alternative.

New single Hold On reveals a deeper and darker side to SKIES; quirky synth-led melodies interlace with gritty guitars and Ali Cottle’s infectious vocal tones to create a dense atmosphere that musically illustrates the lyrical theme: mortality.

“‘Hold On’ is a song about being mortal, and wondering why we are,” explains vocalist/guitarist Alie Cotter. “It’s something that I’m really intrigued about, these rules we have to live by, and no one knows exactly why. I just wanted to explore it a bit – the song itself came together really naturally, it was one of those moments where it all fell in place.”

With previous support from BBC Radio 1 DJ’s Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart, BBC Introducing Kent and Amazing Radio for their single ‘Drone’ which Q magazine called “A contemporary pop-rock anthem”, SKIES have rapidly cemented themselves as a high potential act and they continue to do so with this latest single.

A sound that translates monumentally live, SKIES have already made their mark on venues across the UK, most recently supporting pop-rockers Evarose on their album launch run. Catch SKIES on one of the following dates:
