East Anglian duo The Healing Power of Horses defy easy categorisation, but that’s how they like it. They have spent way too much time in the attic making tunes and not enough time outside, and as a result are awfully pallid and bug-eyed and knock-kneed and all the rest. Now, with the clock running down and the fanfare of Death’s march getting louder with every step, they have poked both their heads out of the window and decided to fire a flare gun.
Signing to section1 (RIP Magic, Blonde Redhead, King Princess), the Los-Angeles based sister label to Partisan Records, they offer their first single “i wait, i sink”.
Listen to “i wait, i sink” HERE
“i wait, i sink” is the result of some unconscious and heady evening spent blowing up audio interfaces and blowing through vapes. It rattles and shakes and stomps around the place before exploding into a plume of petrol blue vapour, wrestling with itself in a Gordian knot. All that is good under God cannot be measured.
Before their period of enhanced isolation – and before their retreat into the cursed Fenlands – they broke bread with those wonderful folks at No Soap up in Glasgow, where a single tape recording was made. But here, look – now they’ve got 7777 wav files on an SSD, they’re coming fast as write speed allows, now they are a little transformed.
“i wait, i sink” is the first transmission they are making. Somewhere in that dusty attic next to a church, The Healing Power of Horses are attempting to fix a Coway AirMega Air Purifier, unaware that You – The Dear Reader – are seeing any of this – and they would be overjoyed if you’d send them a new filter.
