THE SHACKLEWELL ARMS, LONDON – 11th NOVEMBER

Aussie four-piece The Gnomes today announce a new EP ‘With A Gnome’, (out 4th November) and reveal a new single ‘Batteries’ – a thrilling departure from their Mersey beat-influenced debut. The new single drops ahead of The Gnomes return to the UK/Europe in November – DATES HERE

“This song is kind of a trap,” says lead singer Jay Millar,”It’s The Gnomes’ softest and quietest song and also our loudest and heaviest. I used a cheap plastic fuzz pedal held together by duct tape for my guitar sound and we tried a few different amp and pedal combos for Ned’s Guitar. There’s only two guitar tracks in the chorus, it’s all balls and volume instead of 50 layered guitars and studio magic.”

Also out today is B-side/EP track ‘Anything You Need’, featuring two and a half minutes of Stones/Stooges-influenced garage rock bliss.

Across the four very different but equally impressive tracks on ‘With A Gnome’, The Gnomes have captured the grit and intensity of their live show. The record was produced by Dec Mehrtens, guitarist for Grammy-nominated Australian punk heavyweights Amyl and The Sniffers, whose debut effort as a producer (C.O.F.F.I.N, Out in Oslo) recently debuted at #1 on the Australian Album charts.

“I like The Gnomes because they’re versatile, but their attitude has continuity. This EP was a lot of fun to work on. They can reimagine themselves however they like,” Dec says.

For The Gnomes, working with one of their Australian music idols was both surreal and inspiring. “One night during the recording of this EP, Ned and I slept at our managers’ studio. We woke up on the floor to Dec kicking us out because the Sniffers were rehearsing that day. After walking downstairs in nothing but boxers and socks, we awkwardly met Amy Taylor. ThenNed and I sat half asleep in the kitchen while the Sniffers rehearsed upstairs and wrote the lyrics and harmonies for Batteries,” Jay explains.

The Gnomes made their UK debut earlier this year with multiple appearances at The Great Escape in Brighton, where they played to packed out venues, before playing headline shows in London, Glasgow and Manchester.  Their debut London dates included a sold-out debut at Third Man Records Soho and a headline show at Moth Club, complete with mosh pit and crowd surfing.

Hailing from Melbourne’s ocean-side suburb of Frankston, The Gnomes have been gathering fans across the globe and have also received tips and support from Triple J, Apple Music, BBC 6 Music, NTS and Radio X, with high praise coming early from Clash, Classic Rock, MOJO, So Young and Still Listening, among others.

With their profile continuing to grow globally, The Gnomes are entering the next chapter with new music and further live dates to come.  2026 and beyond is shaping up to be another strong year for the “must see” and “must hear” band.

The Gnomes are Jay Millar (guitar/vocals), Ned Capp (guitar), Olly Katsianis (bass) and Ethan Robins (drums).
