THE EYES HAVE IT

Published:

Kozmik Artifact – Europe’s leading purveyor of heavy psych, blues and stoner rock – is thrilled to announce the release of Love Like Machines, the brand-new album from heavy psych rockers The Heavy Eyes.

Serving another round of the Memphis quartet’s heady brew of big riffs and Southern croon, this is the band’s first collection of new material in over five years. However, despite the rabid reception of their first three albums – 2011’s self-titled debut; Maera (2012) and 2015’s critically acclaimed, He Dreams of Lions – Love Like Machines almost never happened. By 2017, the band was on hiatus, with each member living in a different state. Spread across the Southwest and Midwest, there were new jobs, new cities, marriages, and even a diagnosis. In short, there was every indication that the hiatus might become permanent but by 2019, the Heavy Eyes had found a second guitarist and with it, a second wind.

Exchanging beats, licks, and lyrics long-distance, recording sessions took place in New Mexico and their hometown of Memphis by producer Matt Qualls, whose previous work includes Dirty Streets, Cold Stares, Hash Redactor, Joy, and many more. Picking back up on their signature sound; riffs that interlock like clockwork, rollicking drums and bass, and a Southern drawl that floats above it all like a ghost lost at sea, ater ten years together the band ventured into virgin territory. New sounds and structures await the listener. The songs sing of doomed armies, of lost loves, and of course, of that damn meddling Wolfman. In short, there is something here for everyone: the bellicose, the poignant, the absurd.

Love Like Machines by The Heavy Eyes is released worldwide on March 27th 2020 on Kozmik Artifactz and can be pre-ordered here – https://theheavyeyesmemphis.bandcamp.com
