Blondshell is pleased to share a video for her single ‘Salad’, ahead of a series of UK shows this May.

Directed by Nick Harwood (Sophie, Blood Orange, Kim Petras) and inspired by the photos of Justine Kurland and shot at the Zorthian Ranch in Altadena, CA, the video tells a story of a trio of self-sufficient women – played by Blondshell, Rana Ghiassi, and Ruby Cruz (Mare of Easttown, Willow) – who spend a day in the forest they call home.  We follow them as they awaken in their encampment and trounce through the woods, and through their intimate interactions and exchanges we come to understand their deep connection. Throughout the first act they assemble souvenirs from the forest — twigs, herbs, flowers etc. — that at first might resemble some sort of rustic bouquet. But we will soon learn that this assemblage has a sinister purpose — the trinkets they’ve collected are not decorations but ingredients… 

“Look what you did, you’ll make a killer of a Jewish girl” sings Blondshell at the top of the song, a lyric so searing it almost burns through the speakers, before proceeding to rip through four more minutes of storytelling both angry and empowered, a revenge fantasy of sorts narrating an imagined vigilante justice after a friend’s abuser gets absolved of his crime.  

Sabrina Teitelbaum (Blondshell) explains, “For the video we were really inspired by images of girlhood and deep friendship. We kept coming back to Justine Kurland’s Girl Pictures. I wanted the video to show the love that’s in the song, not just the anger. Nick created a really beautiful video and a comfortable place for all of us to play around with images of chosen family and community.”

The new video follows Blondshell’s standout performances at this year’s Great Escape in Brighton.  The tour continues this week in Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam, and Brussels ahead of a string of sold-out shows in the UK including Moth Club on 24^th May. Back in the US, she will be opening for one her heroes, hitting the road with Liz Phair later this year, running throughout November and into December.
