Melbourne-based, five-piece metal band Pridelands are thrilled to reveal their brand new single, The Walls on Resist Records in Australia and on their new label home, Sharptone Records (for the rest of the world).
The Walls follows their single, Heavy Tongue. It was written by Pridelands, produced by Jamie Marinos and Pridelands, mixed by George Lever at G1 Productions UK (Loathe, Sleep Token) and mastered by Ermin Hamidovic at Systematic Productions AUS (Architects, Northlane, Periphery).

“The Walls is a song about the constant struggles of life, to put it simply. Life can be perceived as a series of hurdles or challenges and depending on your outlook, this can be a good or a bad thing.” Says vocalist, Mason Bunt.
He adds, “Addictions and self-doubt are very common “walls” that many will face in their life, slowing their ambitions to move forward. This song is about raging against the dying of the light, taking the ever-so slight chance of victory and holding onto that hope.”
“In the music video as the viewer you are watching this cycle play out as you view the individuals trapped inside the walls, as another side of their life plays out on the screens inside their rooms. Our idea for the visuals was to simply create a room with no exit and no colour and use that as a metaphor for the routine of being trapped in that cycle, repeating the same numbing behaviours that stop you from moving forward into your next metamorphosis.
Lyrically and visually the struggle is never resolved.”
After winning the triple j Unearthed competition to perform on UNIFY Gathering’s main stage in 2019, Pridelands ticked off a major band goal early on in their career. “Playing on stages like that is what we wanna be doing,” Fowler confirms, “so to get the opportunity to play UNIFY was just out of this world.” In July, Pridelands sold out their Heavy Tongue single show at The Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne.
