London/Surrey alt-rock quartet Swim Good have today shared a previously unreleased track Heard Enough to celebrate the five-year anniversary of their original signing to Failure By Design Records. The indie label whose roster includes itoldyouiwouldeatyou, Weatherstate and alumni Boston Manor have now made the band’s discography available for stream and free download as the wryly titled collection ‘…Are Excellent’ – matching the band’s off kilter, quirky attitude. Available via all major music services now – smarturl.it/SwimGoodForever
The new, previously unreleased Heard Enough – produced by Chris Coulter (Jamie Lenman, Arcane Roots, Sun Arcana) – is a hard-hitting powerhouse, showcasing Swim Good’s technical prowess, chorus smashing talent and singer Ryan Greaves’ stunning vocal ability. The song documents a deeply poignant time for Ryan and his previous struggles with his mental health.
Ryan said: “This song was written during a particularly chaotic part of my life and served to bring myself back to the ground after I’d lost my way. The lyrics describe my brain trying to reason with my destructive actions. I’d wage a war in my own head for days, torn between doing what I knew was best for me and going against that better judgement masked as having a ‘good time’.
Ultimately it’s about ‘getting better’ being a possibility. It can seem nigh on impossible at times, but generally it all starts with reaching out for that helping hand – whether it’s from people around you or an organisation like C.A.L.M.”
Ben Pollard from Failure By Design Records said:
“The Swim Good EP was our first ever release as a label and in a lot of ways the catalyst for FBD even starting. The musical landscape is almost unrecognisable in the short five years since we released the record, so it feels great to bring the band’s discography online properly and have everything in one place. A lot of people would say we peaked too soon releasing such a great band’s record so early on, and I’d be hard-pushed to say they’re wrong”
Swim Good formed in 2012 and hit the ground running, racking up an impressive amount of shows in a matter of months, sharing stages with the likes of Don Broco, TTNG, Enter Shikari and more. After a short break they were soon approached by Failure By Design Records, who upon hearing the self-titled EP were eager to make it their first release. The reception saw the band reenergised and touring again, going on to release the ‘Little Victories’ EP. They garnered a dedicated following, injecting some personality into the scene with their spiky angular alt-rock that shifts anywhere between the likes of Say Anything, Title Fight, Panic! At The Disco mixed with a dash of Proceed. Though this is the first ‘new’ music from the Swim Good in a while; contrary to the song’s title they are not convinced that people have Heard Enough from them yet.
