SUNNY IN ANGERLAND

Published:

British post-punk quartet Angerland have today released a post pandemic tribute to the suffocation and ‘carnival chaos’ of 2020 that carries on through to today, rallying a carousel of graffiti’d up mask-wearers from across the globe to tell their story. 2020 Visions was suggested as a title by Angerland’s Kerm as it started life just before the world went into lockdown. When Angerland reconvened after lockdown, the lyrics, which were originally to be some sort of Nostradamus-type predictions, had become a different beast and morphed into a commentary on the times we’ve been living through.

“We knew we were going to do a lyric video and threw around a variety of ideas until we hit on the idea of getting people to write the lyrics on facemasks. Thanks to all the people who got involved! And thanks to Angharad for compiling and editing it all together for us.”

Born from the ashes of former outfit ‘Fuckshovel’, London based Angerland deliver a heavy punch of rage-n-roll, reminiscent of the likes of Killing Joke, Ruts DC and New Model Army. Having emerged in 2018, the members of Angerland are no strangers to the live music scene, having toured with the likes of Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols, The Germs, and Slim Jim Phantom both in the UK and as far as SXSW prior to their current reincarnation.

Angerland’s previous EP ‘The Clown King’ featured 3 tracks ‘This Blood Machine’, ‘A Comedy Of Hate’ and ‘The Clown King’ with music video to accompany, a tribute to the Clown King himself; Donald Trump. A mesmerising and encapsulating reflection of the worldwide circus of leaders. Branded by Facebook as political slander, restricted by YouTube as indecent, the video for ‘The Clown King’ couldn’t have been more appropriate, watch here: https://youtu.be/uDY6ym454IY

With numerous shows in the capital under their belt, Angerland have so far hit the stage at iconic venues across London, in addition to a double-performance at the prestigious Camden Rocks Festival in 2019, performed at “Grenfell Tower Unity In The Community”, and have in recent months been recording their debut album with Rohan Onraet, the fifth Angerman… release date TBC.

Post-punk, rage, and vehemence; come bask in the noise, Ira industria noster.
