SNAYX are Brighton punk-rock band comprising of Ollie Horner, Charlie Herridge and Lainey Loops. Founded in January 2019, they are known for their ferocious live sets and visuals and have supported international acts such as D-Boy, Kid Kapichi, Nova Twins and more. They released their debut album, ‘Weaponized Youth: Part 1’, in March 2023, followed by a double A-side single Boys In Blue and H.A.N.G in May 2023. They have a brand new EP `Better Days` released this month.

This extended play opens with the title track `Better Days` a pretty upbeat pounding slice of punk tinged rock with vocals almost rapped atop. It`s about stepping back after realising that the friends you have surrounded yourself with probably don`t have you best interests at heart. There`s a pulsing beat at the heart of `Sink Or Swim` with some crashing guitar riffs and dual like vocals relating a story of not only changing one`s own situation and life but other`s deplorable perception of you and what you stand for.

`King` is a slower paced fairly reflective number with a rhythmic beat and synth tones which hints at struggles with mental health issues and the desire one has, just to be happy. This four tracker closes out with `Concrete` a fairly fast paced thumper with electronic beeps and lyrics that are part sung part spoken word about a troubled mind and just wanting to blot the bad thoughts out.

Although the `Better Days` EP is fairly brief there`s a hell of a lot of substance shared in this short time. It veers from understanding the dangers of the wrong kind of peer pressure and company you keep to emotional and mental disorders. It`s all done over an enticing aural soundscape and not in a preachy manner which for me gives it much more impact.

They do say to never judge a book by it`s cover and SNAYX, are a living, breathing example of this metaphorical phrase. I hope this is a taster of a full blown album to come. Grab a copy of SNAYX`s latest opus and play it LOUD, I can attest that it certainly will bring you a `Better Day`.
