It’s only been six months since her debut, but Lanie Gardner is already back with a new EP—and it’s clear she’s not here to mess about. “Polaroids” is sharp, confident, and makes a strong case for her being one of country-pop’s next big names.
Right out the gate, “Takin’ The Slow Ride” leans all the way into that Southern charm—Skynyrd namecheck and all. Sure, you know exactly where it’s going, but that’s the beauty of it. It’s warm, familiar, and you can easily imagine Brothers Osborne sending it into the charts.
She reckons she’s had these songs for a few years, so you’d imagine “Boys Like You” is one that comes from the heart.
“Buzzkill” is as catchy as it gets, but you probably don’t want to be the woman she’s singing about.
There’s an electronic air to the country of “Concrete Cowboy” and her low voice is perfect for her sound. Having toured with everyone from Jonas Brothers to Jelly Roll, there’s a definite crossover potential too.
“Hold Your Horses” does the small town, slow-paced thing, but does it superbly. As ever, the Tourist Board should pay for these commercials.
The final one is a pop song dedicated to make-up sex, and in honesty “Little Bit Of Lovin’” is a snapshot into how you build a career.
With 60 million views on her cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” and being hotly tipped as one to watch in 2025, these six tracks are just another rung on the ladder to the very top for Lanie Gardner.
