Emily Breeze is a cult heroine of Bristol’s underground music scene and former frontwoman of Psychedelic Post-Punk outfit Candy Darling. Her much heralded debut album “Rituals” was released last September and highlighted the talents of this lounge-noir chanteuse who is one of Bristol`s best kept secrets.
Emily has a brand new single “Hey Kidz” which is a taster of a new album that should be with us in the new year and features the same backing band that did such a stellar job on the album with Rob Norbury (Lead Guitar), Andy Sutor (Drums), Graham Dalziel (Bass) and Duncan Fleming (Keys)
A drum machine beat leads Emily`s delicate vocal into a cautionary tale of how to get ahead or not in the music business. The track takes some interesting twists and turns along the way with subtle guitar riffs, mesmerising keyboard swatches, a point midway at which the song almost stops with just a drum beat pulsating entwined with the husky vocals relaying the story before it resumes with a more anthemic refrain that builds to a concluding crescendo of sound before fading out. Wonderful stuff.
I for one, can`t wait to hear what`s in store on the new album.
