Review: Dan Reed Network: Fight Another Day (2016)

Garry runs the rule over the comeback album – check out his exclusive pic below too!

I love when it you receive an album from a band you really like that haven’t recorded together for a while…..the thoughts of ‘will they recapture the old magic?’ fill your head…..I really needn’t have worried at all…..this is a belter!!!!!
When the band toured the UK in March they cleverly kept the setlist to the old favourites I reckon so they could unleash this album on us a couple of months later…..and unleash they have…..the album opens with ‘Divided’ a real strong opener that puts a smile on your face and brings the old DRN memories flooding back.
The album captures the old DRN spirit perfectly but with a modern feel to it….there is no way you could accuse the band of standing still for 25 years since ‘The Heat’ was released back in 1991 but you also feel that in a small way you are transported back to 1993 and it’s only been a couple of years since the last release…..that’s credit to just how good this band are and how good their songwriting is…..good music is good music regardless of time.
Tracks like ‘The Brave’ ‘Infected’ & ‘Champion’ are excellent songs that will fit perfectly into the gig setlist alongside the classics from the first three albums…..to be honest I’d be hard pushed to find a track on this album that wouldn’t fit into the live set…..’Give It Love’ ‘Eye Of The Storm’ and ‘Sharp Turn’ are further indications of just how good the guys songwriting is these days….and even though they are spread across the globe these days it’s easy to see they are still on the same page musically.

If you are pondering buying this album…..the best advice I can give you is to dig out the first three DRN albums and then remember how gutted you were when they split and how much you wanted to hear the follow up to 1991s ‘The Heat’……well here it is…..go and buy it…..you really will enjoy it!!!!!
