London Indie power rock trio cheerbleederz return this month with the release of their latest four track EP (prove me wrong) which is a collection of songs about taking control of your own life and letting go of friendships that don’t serve you anymore.
`i deserved better’ shared in just over two minutes is a vivacious slice of indie pop about knowing your self-worth and recognising when you’re in a rut. A delightfully infectious earworm that will have you singing along with its “ba badda bop da” chorus, I kid you not. About `passenger princess` the trio have said it’s all about learning to be the driving force in your own life! it might be easier to let others dictate your direction, but it gives you far more meaning to go your own way and trust your own instincts.” The song is more contemplative and measured but with a delicate melodic undertone.
`sleepwalking` is another reflective and longing musing with the title possibly a metaphor for something deeper and more meaningful. The final cut `you got it in for me` had a gentle introduction before hitting you between the eyes like a fist in a velvet glove with its explosive fuzzy riffs before swinging back and forth between both speeds and styles. Wonderfully yin and yang.
Pheobe Cross, Kathryn Woods, and Sophie Mackenzie who make up cheerbleederz have created a delightful and considered quartet of indie rock, punk pop numbers that will remain with you long after they drift off in the breeze.
