REVIEW: Airbag: Disconnected (2016)

Garry renews his relationship with a band he forgets

Airbag are a band who I tend to forget about….not in a nasty way but as I say ‘there is a big wide world of music out there’…..but when I listen to them I always think ‘I should listen to more of these guys’……this album definitely falls into that category.
I think the best way to describe this album is…..it has a glorious atmospheric Floyd like quality about it, it’s a fine collection of songs that begin with the epic ‘Killer’….if you aren’t hooked midway through this first track I would have to question ‘what is wrong with you?’
The album as a whole which is the best way to listen to and enjoy it…..works on so many levels, great songwriting, fantastic playing and has that…..got to go back for more feel about it, I really really like it and I reckon you will to…..and try it out with a decent set of headphones too if you get the chance.
Tracks like ‘Broken ‘ & ‘Sleepwalker’ will get numerous plays on my Prog shows and I can see many other Prog Jocks using the tracks from this album as content for many months to come, the title track ‘Disconnected’ is a wonderful 13 minute epic where you genuinely believe at times you are listening to Mr Gilmour drag every last note from his guitar…..it’s a bit of a belter.
There have been many fine albums released this year and many more to come…..will this get the attention and praise it deserves?……possibly not…..but add it to your collection and be part of the group of people who know that they stumbled across a real fine piece of work.
