“It’s not worth winning if you can’t win big” – so sing A Day To Remember on “Lebron,” a track from their surprise new release, Big Ole Album Vol. 1. It’s a fitting statement for an album that swings for the fences, delivering a genre-blurring mix of metalcore brutality, arena-sized hooks, and unexpected stylistic detours. Available exclusively on vinyl and CD for now, this collection proves that ADTR is still pushing boundaries nearly two decades into their career.
From the opener “Make It Make Sense,” the band lays out their full arsenal—vicious breakdowns, guttural vocals, and infectious melodies. “Feedback” is an interesting standout, tapping into a glam-rock swagger before taking a sharp left turn into something much heavier. The electro pulses running through tracks like “Bad Blood” add a modern edge, while “All My Friends” delivers an anthemic singalong moment, complete with a nod to Thin Lizzy.
ADTR’s signature balance of aggression and melody is best showcased in the one-two punch of “To The Death”—a Lamb of God-style pit-starter—and “Flowers,” a more introspective and tender moment. Then there’s “Die For Me,” which feels destined for gold certification, no matter what anyone says. Meanwhile, “Miracle” channels the industrial-tinged grooves of ’90s heavyweights before slamming into a crushing 2025-style chorus.
Lyrically, the album carries a defiant spirit. “Same Team” makes it clear: you’re either with them or against them, and you’d better hope it’s the former. “Silence” takes that sentiment further, declaring “silence will no longer suffice” with an ominous intensity. Yet, the closing track, “Closer Than You Think,” ends on a more uplifting note, proving that ADTR’s ambition isn’t just about sonic destruction—it’s about connection.
With “Big Ole Album Vol. 1,” A Day To Remember doesn’t just win—they win big. This is a record that will have both longtime fans and newcomers diving headfirst into its chaos.
