Famed English vocalist and musician Terry Reid is remembered by some as the man who turned down the chance to be the lead singer for a new project being formed by ex-Yardbirds guitarist Jimmy Page, a little band that would eventually go on to become the classic rock behemoth Led Zeppelin. Reid would of course go on to release several solo albums throughout the ’70s and became an icon in his own right as one of Britain’s most versatile and soulful singers of the classic rock era.
Today, Reid steps into arguably even bigger shoes with a superb new version of The Beatle’s powerful ballad “Golden Slumbers” from their monumental 1969 album Abbey Road. Joined by all-star drummer, Gregg Bissonette, himself no stranger to The Beatles as he is a longtime member of Ringo Starr’s band, and producer/multi-instrumentalist Fernando Perdomo, Reid brings a deep level of warmth and emotion to this short but powerful song. This is the fourth single to be released from the forthcoming Abbey Road Reimagined – A Tribute To The Beatles, and follows the acclaimed indie rocker Matthew Sweet’s indelible take on “Polythene Pam” and a brilliant version of “Come Together” featuring two Pink Floyd associates Snowy White and Durga McBroom.
