RAISING THE BAR-AT

Published:

Carl Barat, currently ringleading the Libertines’ circus around some of the UK’s most prestigious venues, puts on his ‘solo’ hat (a rather fetching fedora!) in January and will set out on the ‘Revive Live Tour’ with his band on a noble mission to highlight the plight of small venues, whose livelihoods have been teetering on the brink thanks to this bleedin’ global pandemic.

The Music Venue Trust, a UK charity which acts to protect grassroots music venues, teamed up with the good people at the National Lottery to create the ‘Revive Live Tour’, which features ‘great bands in small venues’. The tour is great value for fans as you can buy a pair of tickets for any of the shows for the price of a single ticket. More info here: musicvenuetrust.com

Carl Barat and his band will play eleven special up-close and personal shows in January. These will be Barât’s first solo shows in nearly five years and will showcase some tantalising new material along with a career-spanning selection of nuggets from his bands Dirty Pretty Things, The Jackals and the Libertines.

Barat adds: “Grassroots venues have always been vital, both culturally and for upcoming artists. They need supporting more than ever right now.”

Carl Barat has spent the last eighteen months writing with Jamie T and Dan Connors (Tom Grennan) for his forthcoming solo album produced by Olly Burden (The Prodigy). The first fruits of these sessions are slated for release in Spring 2022.
