PUT YOUR HAUSE ON IT

Acclaimed Philadelphia-raised singer/songwriter Dave Hause marked the upcoming release of his new album, Drive It Like It’s Stolen, with a series of solo acoustic shows in the UK & Europe over the last few weeks, including sold-out headline dates in London and Manchester, in-stores at Banquet Records (Kingston) and Missing Records (Glasgow), a series of ‘under the radar’ house concerts in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, and at least one impromptu unplugged pub gig.

“Getting to preview this new record in Europe was so fun, it was incredible to play the new songs and hear people singing the words back to me this early in the process,” shares Dave. “I am looking forward to the time that we can get back over and get to more cities, more sing-alongs and more Nando’s. News soon!”

Today (14/4), Hause shares the latest song to be released from Drive It Like It’s Stolen, ‘Tarnish‘ – listen here. A wistful, acoustic ballad that finds him reflecting on a past life and pondering the eventual conversations he’ll have with his young sons about it all, ‘Tarnish’ follows previous tracks ‘Hazard Lights‘, ‘Damn Personal‘, and ‘Low‘ – all available to stream/download now, with the full album to follow on Blood Harmony Records, April 28, 2023.

Discussing the inspiration behind ‘Tarnish’, he said: “I had kids later in life, and it turns out kids ask an awful lot of questions. Sooner or later I’m gonna have some explaining to do for the four decades of living I did before they showed up on the scene, and I sure hope when they hear the answers, they take it easy on me.”

Additionally, the artist’s recently announced Sing Us Home Festival will take place in his hometown of Philadelphia, PA. on May 5-6, 2023. Coinciding with the album release, the two-day event will feature a unique show from Hause, Kathleen Edwards and Craig Finn (The Hold Steady), along with performances by Hause and his band, The Mermaid, alt-country rockers Drive-By TruckersTim HauseLydia LovelessCrossed KeysThe TisburysOcean Avenue Stompers, and Philadelphia ska-favorites Catbite. It will feature local food trucks, craft beer and bar offerings – more info here.

Produced by Will HogeDrive It Like It’s Stolen features 10 songs that overflow with Hause’s trademark urgency and passion, shimmering with a truth that reflects the harsh realities of life as well the intermittent jolts of joy that punctuate it. Earnest and heartfelt, raw and real as anything he’s ever written before, there’s also a subtle yet significant difference on this album — here, Hause delves into a more fictional type of storytelling to create what he terms “post-apocalyptic Americana.”
