Matty James Cassidy releases new single ‘Old Souls’ this week, from his well-received debut solo album of the same name.
‘Old Souls’ is a darkly poetic rock ‘n’ roll outing, reflected in the Peaky Blinders vibes of the video – which was shot in Co. Fermanagh, including Cassidy’s hometown Enniskillen and historic local sites such as Brookeborough Train Station, closed since 1942, by local photographer/videographer Ronan McGarde. Matty says, “Sometimes songs play out in your head like short films, picture the scene and imagine the world-weary characters… maybe they are the Old Souls”.
Cassidy has rock ‘n’ roll in his veins. His music has been described as “rabble rousing & feisty”, “gritty scuffed-up dust ‘n’ bones rock”. Whether it’s folk-rock, the soulful sound of The Faces or Exile era Rolling Stones, country music, or honky tonk blues – you will find all these influences on his song orientated and honest new album.
