NOT HARD CORE

Published:

Northampton rock quartet EMPYRE is thrilled to launch brand new single Cut To The Core (Acoustic), which is set for release today. The track is accompanied by an exclusive video, which can be viewed here.

With Cut To The Core (Acoustic) EMPYRE continue to build an enviable reputation as a band capable of pushing the boundaries of their own sound. They showed us the power of their acoustic skills with the re-interpretation of Drive, and now, the band takes the challenge even further, by amazing their fans once again, with a new version of Cut To The Core. Fairly loyal to the original, EMPYRE give it a new life, creating a track that needs no “plugs” to make its statement. The single finds the perfect ally in the accompanying video, which adds an extra dimension, underlying the intimate and personal nuances; the setting is curated to the very last detail, displaying elements influenced by the iconic MTV Unplugged series that defined a generation.

Front-man Henrik comments: “Cut To The Core (Acoustic)’is a great way to follow on from the very warm reception Drive (Acoustic) received. It’s perhaps our most upbeat track, and uniquely for our repertoire has a somewhat pop-rock feel to it, yet it retains the acoustic post grunge/hard rock “MTV Unplugged vibe” that we wanted to shine through these acoustic versions.”

The release of Cut To The Core (Acoustic) comes in the midst of unprecedented times. If some may have hit the brakes during the COVID-19 pandemic, EMPYRE have hit the gas. Quick to adapt to a new scenario, the band are bucking a trend by making the most of the lockdown, showing a resilience and resourcefulness that not many could have mastered by delivering fresh exciting content every week. They welcomed fans to peek behind the curtains and get up-close and personal with the “Empyre at Home” series and Spotify Playlists. They’ve invited fans “inside” the music with ‘Isolation Sessions’ and they’ve even given guitar lessons; one was recently featured on Guitar World “Sick Riffs”, and can be watched here – https://youtu.be/6y64v6mOick.

The release of Cut To The Core (Acoustic) and of previous single Drive (Acoustic),follow a successful 2019, which saw EMPYRE releasing the critically acclaimed and truly accomplished debut album Self Aware, a collection of 11 “all killer no filler” tracks, showcasing a band with skillful songwriting and a uniquely distinguishable sound.Self Awareled to Planet Rock proclaiming the band “Ones To Watch” and Classic Rock Magazine featuring them in the prestigious “High Hopes” piece.
