NORTHERN LINE

Alternative grime rockers DeadWax release their raw, high-powered energy new single ‘Northern Behaviour‘ available now on all digital platforms. The ever energetic frontman Jake Milburn tells the story, “The track is born from our time working as labourers on a derelict building site in Holmfirth. Sol and I worked there for about 2 years, doing anything from putting up scaffolding to moving literally tons and tons of dirt by hand.

Born from a passion for heavy music and nurtured in the sweatbox clubs of northern UK, the up and coming fierce, genre-bending force of nature 4 piece have gained a reputation for explosive engaging live shows, packed with furious energy and provoking lyrics which are instantly relatable.

Jake continues the tale of the song wryly laughing, “Doing that job, we always used to say it was ‘character building’ and in fairness, it gave us some serious motivation to get out of it. I wanted to pay homage to where we came from and how we got there, and taking the idea of ‘northern-ness’ and saying, yeah it might be gloomy and rough sometimes, but its f****’n great here, and we wouldn’t have changed anything about how and where we grew up together.

Following on from their previous single ‘Disconnect’ which was aired by Alyx Holcombe on her BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, the hard hitting band are quickly gaining new fans with a compliment coming from world-renowned bass player Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Journey, Thin Lizzy) “Great song, great groove, great band!”. Consisting of frontman Jake, Solomon Price (bass), Henry Skinner (guitar) and Ben Millington (drums), the band bear a unique fusion, attributed to a wide musical palette of metal, UK hip-hop and dance music.

The groove laden up-tempo cut was produced by multi-platinum producer Mike Krompass (Steven Tyler, Theory Of A Deadman), recorded at Base Culture UK Yorkshire and mastered by the legendary Tim Turan (Cypress Hill, Guns n’ Roses) with both adding serious weight to the impact of their sound as the band states, “What came out was a huge sounding track that gives some more identity to DeadWax; a mixture of hype, rage and bravado.“. On the self-made stark but fun accompanying video, It’s an honest yet endearing reflection of living in the north. It can be bleak up here so there’s no sugar-coating anything whilst paying tribute to the locations we grew up with, Holme Moss being a major one of them.

DeadWax are on tour in April (ALL DATES & TICKETS) and will play shows across the UK throughout the year with more exciting releases to come…ever heard of Alt-Grime Rock?
