| RELEASE LYRIC VIDEO FOR ‘ANTI-KAREN’ WATCH HERE |
| Experimental grunge rockers Night On the Sun have released their new EP Whateverlike. You can listen to it HERE. The band have also released the lyric video for EP opener ‘Anti-Karen’, which is a heavy, groove laden slab of fuzzy riffage. |
About the EP the band comment, “Whateverlike has been meticulously crafted over the last year or so and in terms of influences, it both wears its heart on its sleeve as well as offering glimpses of some of our influences from outside the more obvious styles associated with genre.”
Formed in 2022 and hailing from south Wales, Night On The Sun are a four-piece powerhouse who draw inspiration from psychedelia, grunge, progressive rock and more.
Following the release of 2024’s Prehistoric TV, the new EP explores themes of existentialism and with an energetic and powerful angle, crafting a sound resonating with both nostalgia and vision – as if your favourite 90s records got filtered through the lens of the 21st century.
The EP features the epic ‘Snake Eyes’, which builds to an anthemic arena worthy chorus and finale whilst ‘Keyboard Warrior’ pokes fun at the regressive stereotype via a wonky, lilting fairground of sound that takes a few cues from bands like QOTSA and The Doors.
‘Lowdown’ treads a line between grunge and 80s punk, finishing with a battery of downstrokes whereas ‘Bubble ‘bends the three-chord trick into prog rock territory, taking the listener on a journey through history, concluding with the assertion, “I won’t be left behind by a world that doesn’t remember what it’s like to be alive.”
With a hypnotic rhythm that reflects the synthetic intensity of Phillip Glass, the EP closes with the intense anthem ‘Chaos Engine’, which is a swirling dystopian maelstrom of fuzz-fuelled mayhem, which ends with a vocal refrain that sounds like classic Soundgarden at full tilt.
Formed in 2022 and featuring ex-members of Prosperina & The 9ine, Night On The Sun are commanding in their songwriting as they are with their message as they aim to dig deep and strike a chord with audiences looking for depth and connection in their listening experiences.
