MV EXCLUSIVE: THE COGS – THE BEAT OF SEX

Published:

Burning from beneath the Tuscan sun, garage-rockers THE COGS have dropped their first video. Unashamedly in thrall to The Gun Club, ‘Beat Of Sex’ is taken from their recent LP Clamford.

Formed in the sticks round the city of Arezzo, a region best-known as the birthplace of Michelangelo, The Cogs have splattered more than a few ceilings in their time. A case study in bone-idleness when it comes to recording, since coming together in 2007, the four-piece have made only fleeting visits to the studio, resulting in the odd compilation track here, an occasional 7″ there. Is it really any wonder that Clamford only covers one side of vinyl?!

No, the band’s forte is on the stage, racking up many hundreds of shows with their high-energy proto-punk. Making their maiden voyage to the UK earlier this year, they set venues from Hackney to Southend afire with their dynamic quick-release rock’n’roll destruction, blending the influence of Jeffrey Lee’s mob with an elemental garage-punk-psych attack nodding towards the Elevators, The Sonics and the ’76 Saints.

Gee-ed up by fans’ reactions, the boys in The Cogs have promised to get back over here asap. In the meantime, check out their lascivious new video. And don’t forget the Kleenex.
