Michael J. Sheehy has been making records for almost three decades, initially as founder and mouthpiece of mid-’90s cult band Dream City Film Club, then as a solo artist and frontman of rootsy garage rock act Miraculous Mule. He has toured with the likes of Kristin Hersh, Tindersticks, John Cale and Peter Murphy, while his songs have been utilised in films such as ‘Intimacy’ and the TV show ‘Deadwood’.

Following a six-year hiatus, Sheehy will release his seventh solo album, ‘Don’t We Deserve Some Kind of Love?’, on 19th June via Dimple Discs, his first for the label. A radio edit of its six minute title track is released as a new single today and is a song that sees Sheehy writing for and reaching out to listeners for whom life is an ordeal that requires daily medication. The record’s emotional centrepiece, the song dissolves defences by the sparest of means and is a roll call of redemption (“the cheats and the liars, the drunkards and the dicks…”) enriched with the elegiac violin of Fiona Brice and celestial accompaniment from Sandy Mills.

Two other songs from the new album, ‘Full Moon, Empty Belly’ and ‘Don’t Put Yourself Beyond The Reach Of Love’ were issued as a AA-sided single in March.
