London proggers reveal their new single

London-based progressive, psychedelic rockers Messenger recently signed to InsideOutMusic for the release of their forthcoming second album ‘Threnodies’ due on the 22nd April 2016, and now they are pleased to reveal ‘Balearic Blue’, the first track to be taken from the album, and the beautiful artwork which you can see above. Listen to ‘Balearic Blue’ here:

The band had this to say about the track: “We’re very excited to present a preview track from our forthcoming album ‘Threnodies’ as well as the cover artwork. The artwork and layout were created by Colombian, Berlin-based artist Daniel Correa Mejia. We were mesmerised by his paintings and decided that his work fits perfectly with our music. ‘Balearic Blue’ is more along the lines of our previous release ‘Illusory Blues’, so expect something different for the next track. We’re very much looking forward to performing some of these new songs on our forthcoming tour with the Von Hertzen Brothers and HRH Prog in March”

Messenger will be hitting the road in advance of the new album’s release, with the band joining Finnish rockers Von Hertzen Brothers on their UK tour in March. They have also been confirmed for Hard Rock Hell Prog in March & Stone Free Festival at London’s O2 Arena. The full list of dates can be found below:

Q Magazine called their debut ‘an intriguing and impressive first album”, while The Guardian said “they straddle the supermassive black hole between prog and folk.”
