Making Tracks

Atlanta boys reveal new song

Atlanta-based five-piece Cover Your Tracks’ debut album Fever Dream is out now. A brutal metal assault, Fever Dream fuses the band’s heavy industrial leanings with impossibly catchy choruses, soaring melodies, and epic arrangements.

Cover Your Tracks have also released their video for “Striking Matches”. This debut video (and the third single from Fever Dream), was directed by Graham Fielder and shot partly on the cliffs of Stone Mountain in Atlanta. “Not many bands are willing to wake up early and hike up to a location before sunrise,” says Fielder. “We had one chance with a small window to get the shot, which made it exciting because we had to make it happen. It’s always awesome working with a band who’s so invested in the project that they’re up for something like that.”

Featuring vocalist Paul Rose, guitarist Omar Magana, bassist Cory Ferris, and drummer Brent Guistwite, Cover Your Tracks formed in 2014 from the ashes of several previous bands (including Woe, Is Me, Decoder, and Cursed Sails). With Fever Dream, Cover Your Tracks have created a debut album that’s as full of confidence as it is uncertainty, revealing the band’s nihilistic despair and their determined defiance against it.

I’ve always wanted music to be true to our everyday and provide a reflection that sometimes things aren’t so good, and sometimes they are, and that it’ll go back and forth but always keep moving forward,” says Rose.
