Arrival foretold in the runes – a new force rises from the North
LN are a Pagan / Viking metal band from the North-East, carving a powerful and immersive path through the modern metal landscape. Rooted in Norse mythology, witchcraft, medieval lore, and ritualistic storytelling, LN blends crushing modern metal with atmospheric folk elements to create music that feels ancient in spirit yet fiercely contemporary.
Fronted by LN Hirst, whose commanding presence and self-proclaimed witchery forms the heart of the band, LN are rapidly earning a reputation as one of the most vital and forward-moving acts in UK Metal, both for their sound and for the community they are building around it.
From the unifying battle cry of “Shield Wall” to the wrath of “Fenrir,” LN now unleash the third and final chapter of the Völuspá saga with “Draugr.” Across the EP, the band have forged a world steeped in Norse mythology, ritual and warfare, combining crushing modern metal with towering hooks and cinematic storytelling. What began as a rallying cry for their devoted fanbase, “The Peasants,” has evolved into a darker and more haunting finale, cementing LN as one of the UK’s most exciting emerging forces in modern metal.
The accompanying video, shot by Loki Films (Slipknot, Sleep Token, Cradle of Filth), tells the story of an epic battle and finally reveals the mystery behind the severed head mounted upon a stake that has become a prominent fixture of LN’s live shows. Filmed in Heysham, within the shadow of the legendary Viking Graves Graves, famously featured on the cover of Black Sabbath: The Best Of, the video is steeped in ancient atmosphere and Viking history, with the area believed to have once been visited by Norse settlers during the 10th and 11th centuries. The perfect setting to create a cinematic visual and finally unveil the story behind the Draugr.
Frontwoman LN Hirst says: “‘Draugr’ tells the tale of the mythological beings known as the Draugr, an intelligent undead warrior, cursed to roam the earth long after death, fiercely guarding the treasures they once held dear. What were once feared warriors have now become the feared undead.
In the world of LN, one such creature was hunted down and slain, its severed head mounted upon a stake as a warning to the rest… his name is Donnie. More will come. Heads will roll. ‘Draugr’ is the soundtrack to their slaughter.”
With “Draugr,” LN complete the Völuspá trilogy. A three-part journey through warfare, mythology and the supernatural. The unity of “Shield Wall,” to the fury of “Fenrir,” and now the darkness of “Draugr,” the EP shows only a glimpse of what’s to come from LN.
