Norwegian punks announce UK shows
The young Norwegian flag-bearers of punk’s riotousness and reverberations; SLØTFACE announce a string of new UK dates before the year’s end, including back-to-back club nights in London late October. They’re also confirmed for John Kennedy’s X-POSURE club night at The Islington on September 28. Full dates below…
New single ‘Take Me Dancing’ is not without SLØTFACE’s signature snarl, the track was written in response – albeit decades later – to Big Star’s seminal track of 1972, ‘Thirteen’. “I was trying to write the girl’s answer to “won’t you let me walk you home from school?” because I love that song, but think it portrays a very chaste and old school version of femininity,” Shea says. “All we are trying to say is that it’s OK to let loose and have fun from time to time.”
‘Take Me Dancing’ follows the band’s acclaimed debut EP ‘Sponge State’, with its title track getting weekly spins fromAnnie Mac, Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart on BBC Radio 1 and a playlist add at triple j in Australia. It’s also behind a swarm of press, with props from the likes of Billboard, NME, Noisey, DIY, Consequence of Sound, Gigwise and The Line of Best Fit.
