The Committee To Keep Music Evil Kick Off Levitation Festival
~ Pre-Party features Mystic Braves, The Veldt, Floorian, Sugar Candy Mountain, The Turns
Tonight in Austin, the town gets taken over in pre-party mode before the big kahuna event that is the Levitation Festival. In what has become a fine psychedelic tradition, The Committee To Keep Music Evil is proud to present one of these events at Barracuda‘s Inside Stage. Kicking off at 5pm local time, headliners Mystic Braves will come on well past midnight with the concert to end at 2am. They will be preceded by pioneering soul-shoegaze outfit The Veldt, as well as Floorian, Sugar Candy Mountain, and the Turns!
Mystic Braves – Los Angeles based psychedelic quintet signed to Lollipop Records. New album “Days of Yesteryear” out now in multiple formats. Comprised of Julian Ducatenzeiler (guitar & vocals), Tony Malacara (bass & vocals), Shane Stotsenberg (guitar & vocals), Cameron Gartung (drums), and Ignacio Gonzalez (organ/tambourine). Currently on a national tour in support of this album, which you can catch here https://mysticbraves.bandcamp.com
The Veldt – Hailing from North Carolina and based out of NYC, pioneering twins Daniel and Danny Chavis successfully broke the ‘black music’ mould by fusing shoegaze, alternative rock and soul music in a mindblowing concoction that has landed them on 3 majors and production by such legendary artists as Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), A.R. Kane and Ray Shulman (Bjork, The Sundays). They’ve just released their EP ‘The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur’, streamable here https://theveldtmusic.bandcamp.com
Floorian – Based in Columbus, Ohio, Floorian have been traveling the musical cosmos since 1997, exploring the realms of psychedelia, space-rock and experimental music with a vision of creating a unique style of darkly melodic, guitar-based drone-rock. In 2003 Floorian caught the ears of legendary Bomp Records guru Greg Shaw and Brian Jonestown Massacre founder Anton Newcombe. The band’s music has been hailed by fans and critics alike, but the real essence of Floorian is best experienced through their multi-sensory live shows, combining hypnotic visuals with boundless sound. www.floorian.com
Sugar Candy Mountain – Described as “f Brian Wilson had dropped acid on the beach in Brazil and decided to record an album with Os Mutantes and The Flaming Lips, it would sound like this”, this Beach Boys & Kinks-inspired quartet is comprised of Ash Reiter (vocals/guitar), Will Halsey (vocals/drums), Bryant Denison (guitar), and Matt Adams (Bass).
