Rock solo artist The Kut (PhD) has announced a US distribution deal with Amplified (Alliance / AMPED / MNRK), for her hotly anticipated second album and released a brand new video single ANIMO.

The single is currently spending a third week in the UK Official Singles Charts. It entered at No.8 in the Physical Singles, No.35 in the Sales Chart and No.76 in the Downloads Chart. The single is also featured in US Heatseeker College Radio Chart, NACC NMD Top Singles, at No.12.

Premiered on Johnny Doom’s show on Kerrang! Radio, ANIMO means ‘courage’ or ‘spirit’ and has been added to over 200 stations worldwide, including Kerrang! Radio, Total Rock Radio, Planet Rock, BBC Radio Wales, Hard Rock Hell Radio, Amazing Radio and to FM stations in 16 US States.

The single and accompanying music video are funded by Arts Council England. Dubbed by NYC Takeover as ‘the revolution waiting to erupt’ the latest Kut single is fierce; pepper sprayed with haunting melodies, driving beats and unapologetically packed with girl power.

Written in solidarity with recent women’s rights discussions in the UK, the single is the first of a series of releases, leading up to The Kut second album, due June 2022. The forthcoming album features all seven members of her collective of women in music, with the ANIMO single featuring Diana Bartmann (drums), Jennifer Sanin (bass/vocals) and Dr Alison Wood (guitar/vocals) performing alongside The Kut (performing on vocals/guitar).

The Kut has now announced a Tour with Music Venue Trust for January. The National Lottery’s #ReviveLive Tour is set to kick start the return to live gigs and features performers such as Enter Shikari, Feeder, Becky Hill and many more, performing special shows in grassroots venues.

ABOUT THE KUT: THE STORY SO FAR

The Kut is a solo artist and multi-instrumentalist (guitar/drums/bass/vocals) based out of the UK. The Kut’s debut album ‘Valley of Thorns’ was produced by James LeRock Loughrey (Skindred, White Zombie, Bjork) and spent two weeks in the UK Rock Albums Chart (No.7) and No. 18 in the Independent Albums Chart. The album was distributed via Cargo Records, who stay on as UK & Europe distributor.

Before the release of ANIMO, her latest single ‘Waiting for Christmas’ reached No.10 in the UK Sales Chart on Christmas Day (No.65) and spent four weeks in the Physical Chart (No.10).  These releases spawned significant interest in the UK and USA, with massive independent radio support and music videos selected for playlist by MTV USA, MTV-U, LATV, AXSTV & Music Choice.

With tours in eight countries and performances at Download, Rebellion, Camden Rocks and BBC Introducing Stages, The Kut returned to live post-lockdown, headlining the River Stage at Isle of Wight Festival. The event was followed by the announcement of a long awaited forthcoming single, ‘ANIMO’.

The recent US deal, which also signed The Kut’s Criminal Records label, brings her and label into an impressive US roster including Kobalt, Death Row, Pias, Epitaph, Chrysalis, Nuclear Blast, Papa Roach, Arlo Parks, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Larkin Poe, Blink 182, Frank Turner and Die Antwoord.

ANIMO is currently available on three Limited Edition CDs, designed by Daniella Batsheva, and at all digital retailers. The Music Video is directed by Mike Gripz at Smith Town Studios.
