New song and tour dates from Slutface

Fresh from DIY’s Hello 2016 London series, and ‘Ones To Watch’ lists across the continent, SLUTFACE return with the latest auditory instalment – new single ‘Kill ‘Em With Kindness’. It’s as righteously rampant as their last offering but, as the title would suggest, perhaps a little more hug than slug.

It follows the release of A/B-Side ‘Shave My Head’ / ‘Get My Own’ – a one-two punch that had the likes of Consequence Of Sound, DIY and Kerrang! lining up to premiere its collective parts; also inciting on-air sing-a-longs and jovial swears from the likes of Annie Mac, BBC Radio 1 and John Kennedy at Radio X.

Despite the addition of 80s gated guitars, and a deceptively disco aesthetic, ‘Kill ‘Em With Kindness’ is not without Slutface’s signature growl. “The song was written about the mildly sadistic way that the press sometimes seems to be walking around waiting for musicians and artists to fail,” explains vocalist Haley Shea.

“I wrote the lyrics mostly as Lorde had her big breakthrough. It just seemed like she – as an amazingly talented artist – was having to work way too hard, due to her age and gender, to prove she had an important voice. There was kind of this feeling like everyone was waiting for her to screw up and pull a Justin Bieber or something: ‘What, a young intelligent female artist? Impossible! Who is behind this?’”

Produced by Dan Austin at Norway’s Ocean Sound Recordings, the new single lands ahead of Slutface’s UK Tour with Fufanu (Iceland), kicking off in Liverpool next month before stopping by London’s Sebright Arms on March 1 .
