Singer, songwriter and award-winning UK country powerhouse, Kezia Gill, has released a new video to accompany her latest single, ‘Local Man’s Star 2026’; the video – filmed by Dan Wharton and directed / edited by Kezia herself – is a heartfelt tribute to her late father, beloved musician and entertainer, Eddie McGill, who acted as a role model for the young Kezia, supporting his daughter in the pursuit of her dreams.
“We made a video for the original version of this song back in 2019,” recalls Kezia, “so I wanted to do something totally different this time, something very much in line with the mood of this new recording. With my dad no longer with us, it needed to be reflective, and stand as a tribute to him, his career, and the life I now live because of him.
“The log cabin at Whitebottom Farm is somewhere I’ve stayed many times, and is home to the Buckle & Boots festival, an event very close to my heart. My dad saw me perform there, and it was the perfect location for the video, to reminisce and create an almost dream like state where he’s still right there with me.”
‘Local Man’s Star 2026’ was produced and mixed in Nashville by US artist, Alyssa Bonagura, along with a selection of award-winning musicians; Bonagura also took the studio reins for Kezia’s No. 1 UK country album, ‘All On Red’, released earlier this year via Snakefarm / Universal to high praise from fans and media alike.

Written in 2018 and first released the following year, ‘Local Man’s Star’ (“as personal as storytelling gets” – Kezia) has become a staple of the live show, generally performed acoustically, which is how Kezia delivered it live on national daytime TV back in April, guesting on Jeremy Vine.
Featuring previous singles / videos ‘Dublin’s Outta Whiskey’, ‘If Heaven Has A Honky Tonk’, ‘Gut Feeling’ and ‘Life You Always Dreamed Of’, ‘All On Red’ represents a bold new chapter in the career of an artist who continues to secure awards and nominations from multiple bodies allied to the genre, along with growing support from radio, most recently including a Radio 2 playlist, plus multiple Planet Rock A-Lists…
Kezia adds, “This is the best album I’ve written; it feels like a body of work that combines the sound and skill of Nashville with what I stand for in terms of storytelling and honesty as a proud British artist – a Nashville record with a British heart.”
Following a successful UK headline tour in February, and with appearances at Bearded Theory Festival and the aforementioned Buckle & Boots Country Music Festival already in the can, Kezia has a number of other festivals slots lined up for the summer and early autumn, including the Nashville Nights Festival in Denmark; she recently made mainstage appearances at both the inaugural State Fayre in Chelmsford & Glasgow, plus Country On The Common in South London.
