In 2016, The Inspector Cluzo recorded an acoustic set for ARTE- DEEZER in the home of Arthur Rimbaud. Fans adored this different take on their sound so now, a decade into playing loud and direct to fans across the world, The Inspector Cluzo decided to take that session as the inspiration to demonstrate a different side to their music.
The result is ‘Brother In Ideals’, a complete acoustic re-recording of the songs from last year’s UK breakthrough album, ‘We, The People Of The Soil’. Laid down over four days with Vance Powell once again at the desk at his studio in Nashville, the recordings were initially not designed for public release but, given the results, that changed as singer Laurent explains:
“we were not planning to release it …but it is our own label and we do what we want. We never have a career plan..we just follow our artistic desire”
The album reveals the melodic heart of the band and puts their considered and timely lyrics at the forefront. Lead single, ‘Globalisation Blues’, documents the band’s experiences of witnessing the ongoing worldwide destruction caused by corporate practices in the 65 countries they have visited in their music career to date. Pianist Charles Treadway, violinist Eleonore Denig and cellist Austin Hoke joined the duo for the sessions. Last year saw The Inspector Cluzo celebrate their tenth anniversary in style. A whirlwind UK tour with Clutch playing sold out Academy shows sat alongside US support tours with Clutch and Eels and a host of high-profile festival performances including the UK’s Download, Brazil and Chile’s Lollapalooza, Austin’s Shaky Knees and Mexico’s Viva Latina. In all, The Inspector Cluzo played a staggering 108 shows across the year whilst also running their organic farm, Lou Casse, in the shadow of the Pyrenees. The album, ‘We, The People Of The Soil’, was heralded by Classic Rock in an 8/10 review and the band featured in Planet Rock as their ‘New Rock’ artist in January 2019.
The Inspector Cluzo are currently on their third US tour this year and will return to the UK in 2020 for full electric shows following a run of acoustic shows in Europe in February of next year. For all dates visit http://theinspectorcluzo.com/accueil.
