Italian dark metallers False Memories will release a new album entitled ‘Hybrid Ego System’ on 9th June via Frontiers. A first single and video from it for the song ‘Rising Tide’ is available from today.
‘Hybrid Ego System’ is the follow-up to 2021’s ‘The Last Night Of Fall’ and it sees the band continuing to mine dark and progressive metal territory. As with that record, guitarist/producer Francesco Savino (also of Demons Down and T3NORS) and vocalist Rossella Moscatello have written its contents, save for one co-write with guitarist Moreno Palmisano. Anette Olzon of The Dark Element and formerly of Nightwish performs a duet with Moscatello on album opener ‘The Storm Inside’.
False Memories have been on an especially creative streak since their last album. Closing out 2021 with the ‘Echoes Of A Reflection’ covers EP, they followed it with the live EP ‘Live Until The Twilight’ in mid-2022, the full performance of which can be seen HERE. They also toured Europe with labelmates Semblant, while both Moscatello and Savino co-wrote songs for the new album by Revolution Saints (also on Frontiers) in tandem with working on their own new record.
Founded in 2015 by Savino, False Memories had gravitated towards a goth rock/metal sound by the time of their independently released debut album, ‘Chimerical’, issued in early 2018. Moscatello subsequently joined the band as lead singer that autumn and that record would later be reissued with bonus songs sung by her. They signed to Frontiers prior to issuing its follow-up.
