Americana singer, guitarist and songwriter Jarrod Dickenson is releasing the song ‘Your Heart Belongs To Me’, a duet sung with his wife Claire. The single is taken from his critically acclaimed 2017 album ‘Ready The Horses’, released on Decca, and has an impact date of March 9th.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Jarrod’s schedule since the release of ‘Ready The Horses’ has been full to the brim, with packed out US and European dates, accolades and recognition flying in from a multitude of respected musical publications and a Christmas single that hit over 250,000 plays on Spotify.
With barely enough time to catch his breath, Jarrod has announced a support slot for the Wandering Heart’s London gig at Bush Hall on March 1st followed by a trio of headline dates across Europe, and a support slot on the UK tour of none other than Americana luminary Don McLean (dates below).
In anticipation of the upcoming dates, Jarrod releases the song ‘Your Heart Belongs To Me’, a love story inspired by the four-year period in which he had a long distance relationship with Claire before they were married. It talks about what Jarrod describes as, “how true love needs no frills, no sugar coating. True love wants to get straight to the heart of the matter, and the thing that binds two people together more than anything else is time spent with one another.”
Their relationship started after meeting at the Songwriters Festival in Belfast (the same festival he is to play on March 11th this year), where Jarrod was a performer and Claire was a volunteer working at the entrance. They instantly hit it off, and although Jarod was due to hit the road the following day, they knew there was something special between them so kept in close contact, during which time a romance blossomed. Jarrod took inspiration from this time apart, “It’s not necessarily an auto-biographical song, but where we were in our own relationship at that time certainly influenced my writing. There were very few gifts exchanged in our dating and courtship, because every penny each of us had was spent in travel to see the other. All we wanted was to be together, and I think the characters in this song feel the same way.”
